Investment scams steal the most money of any scams in TN

Tennesseans lost more than $42.5 million to investment scams during the first half of 2025. The Federal Trade Commission report says that is the most money out of any scam in the state. 738 people in Tennessee reported an investment scam. Most of these scams offer very high returns over a period of time with the scammer often saying “it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.” The scammer may tell a victim the investment is exclusive and only offered to a select few, but they must act now and send money quickly.
