JC Commission approves new budget with 28-cent property tax increase
The Johnson City Commission approved its budget Thursday night. The budget includes a 28-cent property tax increase, with some of that money going to a new aquatic center. Several residents spoke for and against the proposed aquatic center. It was approved on the third and final reading, but approval was not unanimous. Commissioner Whitney Goetz (GETS) was the only “no” vote. She proposed an amendment that left out the aquatic center. It failed. The budget goes into effect July 1.
