JCFD receives donation for new fire engine

The Johnson City Commission has approved a $1,023,500 donation to the Johnson City Fire Department for a brand new fire engine and equipment for Station 5 on Broyles Drive. The donation is the largest in city history. The new truck will replace a nearly twenty-year-old truck. Fire officials say a typical fire engine will last between 15 and 20 years. The generous donation comes from Carol Lawler–a Johnson City resident who has donated to several charities throughout the region. Fire Chief David Bell says the new engine is expected to arrive around October.
