Johnson County looks to build new park near Johnson County Community Hospital
Johnson County presented a concept for a possible park on Highway 421 next to the Johnson County Community Hospital. The land, totaling 6 acres, was donated to the county by Ballad Health to provide active, outdoor initiatives for residents. The original plan for the park includes a new little league field, a walking trail, eight pickleball courts and parking and concessions. The project’s cost comes out to $3 million, but could possibly be done relying heavily on grants, like the state-funded Local Parks and Recreation Fund Grant that would provide a 75/25 county match in cost. The Johnson County Commission will meet on Thursday, the 19th to approve the funding and resolution. Parks and Rec will host another public meeting on Tuesday, March 24.
