Jonesborough leaders look to tighten oversight of data centers
Jonesborough leaders moved to tighten oversight of any future data centers or cryptocurrency mines that may seek to locate in town, approving a new ordinance aimed at setting ground rules before any proposals arrive. The ordinance, passed Monday night, adds safeguards for future applicants and the public related to rezoning, noise performance, and water usage. Leaders said no data center or crypto mine is currently looking at Jonesborough, but they want guidance in place if that changes. Under the ordinance, any applications would also require approval by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
