Kilgore and Republicans reach out to Virginia Democrats for possible gas tax holiday
House Minority Leader Delegate Terry Kilgore of Gate City is reaching across the aisle to encourage Democrats to join an effort to create a three month gasoline tax holiday in Virginia due to the Iran war’s impact on supplies and prices.
In a published report, Kilgore said it would cost the state $125 million but would hopefully provide some relief for consumers as the state currently has a healthy economic outlook and money in reserves to absorb the costs.
Lawmakers could consider that legislation when they return for Governor Spanberger’s veto session next month.
