Kingsport man confesses to filing false report about bogus patrol officer

A Kingsport man admitted to taking up valuable manpower and time after he reported being pulled over Highway 93 in Fall Branch by someone impersonating a police officer.

A report from Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton said one count of false reporting was filed against James P. Ramsey Jr. Besides the confession and discrepancies in his story, officers checked highway video surveillance and never saw a vehicle that fit Ramsey’s description.

Ramsey, 23, is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court.
