Kingsport’s Cloud Park to close Sunday to make way for Domtar expansion

A stipulation in a land-swap agreement between the City of Kingsport and Domtar will commence this weekend with the closing of Cloud Park on Sunday.

Domtar will be using that property for a plant expansion off West Center Street while city officials are constructing new recreation areas near the Cement Hill area thanks to an additional $500,000 Domtar kicked in as part of the deal.

The Scott Adams Memorial Skate Park will remain open for now. Plans are to construct a new version of that freestyle center at Brickyard Park.
