Leclerc Foods signs going up at former Ball plant in Bristol, Virginia
A Canadian-based food manufacturer is reportedly establishing a new facility in Bristol, Virginia.
Workers could be seen at the former Ball plant off Old Abingdon Highway Friday morning erecting signs for Leclerc Foods–a company that has two Tri-Cities operations in Blountville and Kingsport and was originally founded in 1905 in Quebec City.
Recent statistics show Leclerc employs more than 2,000 workers at its Canadian and Tennessee facilities. Leclerc produces cookies, crackers and granola bars for more than 50 companies. The plant Leclerc will be occupying was closed last year after towel company American Merchant shut down operations permanently.
Leclerc established its US headquarters in Kingsport 2016 with a $49 million investment while creating more than 100 new jobs.
This is a developing story.
