Mayor updates work on three Washington County bridge projects
Two bridges in Washington County, Tennessee, wiped out by hurricane flood waters and a third taken out of service for safety improvements are edging closer to reopening and beginning their construction.
A report from Mayor Joe Grandy’s office said a complete rebuild was warranted after the originally-built 1959 Corby Bridge was leveled during the storm. The new bridge can hold a higher weight and has drainage improvements for better water flow.
King Construction has received the contract to repair the crossing on Telford Road including erecting a new structure within 100 days.
Bailey’s Bridge, a structure that has been out of commission for 18 months due to storm damage, will reopen to traffic on May 19th.
