Morristown monkey found after crash out inside store
A kidnapped monkey did some serious damage to items inside a store in Morristown, according to police.
The preliminary report said a Cinnamon Capuchin monkey had been stolen in Alabama and had escaped from it new spot in Tennessee. Some musical instruments inside the Trade Center retail store on South Cumberland Street were trashed.
County animal control was unsuccessful in its initial efforts to track down the primate but finally cornered the animal and captured it. The US Department of Agriculture is involved in the investigation.
According to a post on their official Facebook account, a spokesperson from RooFeathers Farm in Morristown said the monkey was taken on Christmas Eve after the thieves cut the lock on the cage. The statement also said the monkey had been under watch because its original owner from Hawkins County being treated for cancer then died in Alabama.
