NASCAR changes rain tire usage policy as teams prep for Bristol
NASCAR is implementing a new rule change with its first usage employed at this weekend’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
A statement from the association said respective race teams and crew chiefs will be allowed to decide using either Goodyear Rain tires or slicks if rain conditions arrive—something in years past has been at the discretion of NASCAR at oval tracks.
Bristol is one of only seven tracks on the circuit that has been approved for wet weather tire use.
