New dollars being allocated for post-Helene work
More evidence of Southwest Virginia putting Hurricane Helene in its rear view mirror.
The Virginia Department of Transportation announced the opening of a bridge near Damascus on Route 1212, marking the final repair and replacement project associated with hurricane damages from 2024 in the Bristol District.
US Congressman Morgan Griffith also announced more federal dollars are being sent to localities still rebuilding. Washington County will collect more than $1 million for line repair and distribution while Buchanan County receives nearly $400,000 for debris removal.
