NTSB: Dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist intentionally crashed plane in August

The final NTSB report on the plane crash that claimed dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist ruled the incident a suicide.
The Hawkins County native flew his 1938 Piper J3 intentionally into a barn on the family property in Mooresburg, according to the NTSB document, and the cause of death was blunt force injuries.
An eyewitness interviewed by the Sheriff’s Office following the incident said Bloomquist had told him prior to the crash about health problems he was having, that he was not going to die in a hospital bed and then mentioned his plans for his death and to not call the authorities.
The winner of 600 dirt track events in his career and a World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion, Bloomquist died at the age of 60 in August. He was also an 8-time winner of ‘The Dream’ event at historic Eldora Speedway and was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2002.
