NTSB joins investigation into deadly Milligan University cycling team accident

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash that killed two Milligan University cyclists and injured seven others. The agency said Monday that, in coordination with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, that it has opened a safety investigation into the crash. Two sophomore student-athletes, Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers, were killed in the crash on 19E between Hampton and Roan Mountain. Three riders are still being treated at Johnson City Medical Center. The man accused of hitting them with his car, 69 year old John Benfield of Newland, NC, is facing a slew of charges including two counts of reckless vehicular homicide.
