Operations Major Eric Dougherty hired as Johnson City police chief

The City of Johnson City has hired current Major of Operations Eric Dougherty to be the locality’s next Chief of Police.

Ddugherty is a 32-year veteran of the department, has served as a soldier in the US Army, and is an ETSU graduate.

Ddugherty said in a statement he wants to continue the momentum of the agency created by current Chief Billy Church who will end his career in retirement in November.
