Parents of fallen Milligan cyclist ask for donations to bike safety advocacy group

The parents of one of the Milligan Univesity cycling team athletes killed in Carter County is encouraging donations to be made in his honor to an organization fighting to protect riders on the road.

In the notice penned by family members for 19-year-old Haylan Engdahl, they are asking the public in lieu of flowers to send contibutions to The White Line, a group founded by Michael and Jill White to change highway laws to protect bicycle riders in honor of their son 17-year-old Magnus who was killed by a reckless driver in Colorado in 2023.

A celebration of life for Engdahl will be held in his native Illinois next month.
