Police: Elizabethton man admits to dumping tires over bridge into Nolichucky River

An Elizabethton man is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday after authorities say he admitted to dumping tires into the Nolichucky River.

Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley tells us Logan Gortney, 23, was captured on video dumping tires while on the Chestoa Bridge that crosses over the river. Hensley said Gortney contacted him and admitted to the act, and deputies issued him a citation for criminal littering.

He is expected to appear in Unicoi County Court for a criminal hearing on Thursday.
