Police pursuit on Route 23 turns deadly as suspect drives into oncoming traffic

Terrifying video captured on a Wise County officer’s dashcam as an SUV that alluded officers in Kentucky drives into oncoming traffic on Route 23 at speeds that proved to be fatal.

The initial report said one person died and four others were injured while occupants of the SUV were taken into custody. Sheriff Grant Kilgore said the driver swerved dangerously between passing cars and became a deadly threat driving into southbound 23 traffic twice to avoid patrol vehicles and spike strips. Charges against the driver are pending.
