Professional fishing league Bassmasters to use Watauga Lake for September event

In competition fishing leagues, Bassmasters is considered one of the top organizations among competitors.

The group is coming to Carter County September 26-29 for the Strike King Bassmaster College Classic Bracket event.

County executives campaigned for the conference to come to Watauga Lake and use its more than 6,000 acres of reservoir stocked with large and small-mouth bass and a signal to travelers and sportsmen that the locality is back in operation following Hurricane Helene. That weekend will mark the 1 year anniversary of the devastating storm.
