Report: Marion woman convicted in cat abuse case
A woman who administered five shots of insulin to her cat was acquitted by a Smyth County grand jury of a felony animal cruelty charge.
A published report from WCYB said Karen Clark, 43, of Marion was convicted on a charge of failure to seek emergency care and was ordered to pay more than $700 in fines and restitution, according to the state’s prosecutor.
The 12-year-old feline injected by Clark suffered a painful death, according to testimony from State Veterinarian Dr. Tom Levell after a necrospy was performed on the animal.
