Sgt. Steve Hinkle Memorial Blood Drive kicking off today
Marsh Regional Blood Center and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to hold a two day blood drive in memory of Sgt. Steve Hinkle.
The first drive is being held today at the Sheriff’s Office at 140 Blountville Bypass in Blountville from 10 a.m-5 p.m, with appointments recommended but not required. You can call 423-279-6064 for an appointment time if you are interested in donating.
The second drive is scheduled for Friday at Bristol Regional Medical Center, at mobile units outside of the hospital, also from 10 a.m-5 p.m.
Those that donate will receive a commemorative T-shirt, and their blood will be used to treat sick and injured patients across the region. To give blood, donors are required to be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good health. Donors are also asked to eat a balanced meal before giving blood.
Sgt. Hinkle served with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years before he was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty last Feb.
