State Rep. Alexander withdraws bill that would have charged citizens to view state records
State Rep. Rebecca Alexander of Jonesborough has decided to withdraw a bill she sponsored that would have changed the fees incurred for Tennesseans who request public records. HB 2500 would have revised provisions relating to the assessment and collection of fees for the inspection and copying of public records. The Tennessee Public Records Act allows any state resident to inspect public records at no charge. On Friday, Alexander said she has decided to withdraw HB 2500 after hearing feedback from constituents across Washington County.
