TN legislators approve tougher penalties for drivers fleeing scene of fatal accidents
The Tennessee General Assembly has approved a bill to enforce tougher penalties for drivers who flee the scene of fatal accident. The bill comes after a series of deadly hit-and-runs in Tennessee. The legislation sets a mandatory minimum one-year sentence for drivers who leave the scene of a fatal crash and increases the monetary penalty. House Bill 1967 is waiting on Governor Bill Lee’s signature and then it will take effect on July 1.
