TVA selects new interim President
The Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors have selected a new interim President and CEO, after the former President and CEO, Don Moul, retired from the company after less than a year. Moul was promoted to the position of CEO back in April of 2025, not long after Trump removed a TVA board member in March of 2025 without indicating why. Also in March, President Trump issued a memorandum to the TVA Board of Directors, directing them to to cap the pay for the highest-paid employees at $500,000. Moul’s salary in 2025 was set at $1.2 million and he was eligible to receive performance-based bonuses. On Friday, the TVA Board announced that Mike Skaggs will be the new interim President and CEO. According to TVA, Skaggs has more than 40 years of experience in the utility industry, serving as TVA’s Chief Operating Officer from 2018 to 2021. Skaggs joined TVA in 1994 as a project manager at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant and held multiple executive leadership positions across nuclear operations and construction. His assignments included roles in TVA’s corporate offices as well as at the Browns Ferry, Sequoyah and Watts Bar nuclear stations.
