Two classrooms reassigned after air sample testing at Rhea Valley Elementary

Two classrooms at a Washington County, Virginia elementary school have been reassigned after air sampling reportedly found elevated levels of spores. A visual inspection and air sampling were conducted in a Pre-K classroom Friday. Environmental professionals found evidence of mold, and elevated levels of Aspergillus/Penicillium spores. WCPS noted that the testing did not identify evidence of black mold. Additional testing and inspections are being conducted throughout other parts of the school as a precautionary measure. Washington County Public Schools said families and staff of Rhea Valley Elementary School were notified of the air quality testing results Tuesday.
