UPDATE: Abingdon hires South Carolina executive as town manager

The Abingdon Town Council met in special session and agreed to hire Michael Cochran as their new Town Manager.

According to his biography posted online, Cochran has an extensive background in law enforcement including terms as an officer and assistant police chief. He currently serves as administrator for the city of Hanahan in South Carolina.

Cochran is scheduled to begin his duties in Abingdon on June 13.
