UPDATE: If curing process finishes, flights at Tri-Cities Airport will resume Thursday
After a day and a half of scrapped flights, officials at Tri-Cities Airport said normal operations should resume on Thursday.
The cancelations were due to Runway 5/23 repairs after an inspection revealed a 20-foot sinkhole hazard that forced airport brass to shut down the terminals and block off the strip on Tuesday evening.
More than 17 cubic feet of concrete was poured into the hole by repair crews who had measured the depth of the opening at 17 feet.
The report issued on Wednesday said the timetable for opening the airport to regular travel schedules could change as the curing process must be completed before the runway is operational.
