UPDATE: Live-in caretaker accused of murder issued $1M bond

A live-in caretaker accused of killing her client in neighboring Avery County, North Carolina then placing her remains in a tomb of concrete has been issued a $1 million bond.

Elizabeth Carserino, 53, was arrested over the weekend and taken back to Newland where she is charged with the murder of Lynn Gay Keene, 70, who had been reported missing since June.

Keene’s autopsy showed she had been beaten and strangled. Carserino is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 23.
