UPDATE: VDH lifts health advisory issued in May for portions of the Clinch River
A health advisory in place since May for portions of the Clinch River in Russell County, Va has now been lifted.
A Virginia Dept. of Health spokesperson issued that update Thursday. The advisory initially recommended against recreational use and consumption of fish in a section of the river that included the Town of Cleveland campground to the public boat ramp in Carterton.
The advisory was originally issued over five months ago because of damage to the Town of Cleveland’s wastewater treatment plant and concerns of raw sewage overflowing into the river.
