VA Governor attends the start of new workforce housing project

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin stopped in Washington County, Virginia Tuesday to celebrate the start of a new workforce housing development. The Sunny Valley Subdivision is part of the Virginia Workforce Housing Investment Program. 300 plus homes are planned as part of the statewide effort to increase access to affordable housing. Governor Youngkin said there are 2,000 jobs available within just 30 minutes of the site. The project is a collaboration between the county, state and local businesses, stemming from the Virginia Workforce Housing Investment Program which was announced last year. Governor Youngkin expects to have between 80 and 90 homes built by June of 2026.
