VDOT announces work zone suspension for Memorial Day weekend

The summer travel season officially gets underway this Memorial Day weekend and the Virginia Department of Transportation just announced that they will be suspending many highway work zones and lifting temporary lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon on Friday, May 23 until noon on Tuesday, May 27. While lane closures will be lifted in most locations, VDOT says motorists may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place over the long holiday weekend.
