Virginia Tech President Tim Sands stepping down, will stay until successor is chosen
Twelve years after accepting the position, Virginia Tech president Tim Sands says he is stepping aside from the job so the next leader can take office.
Sands was provost and acting president at Purdue University prior to serving in Blacksburg. Endowments, applications, enrollment and research funding all experienced growth under Sands’ leadership.
He informed the Tech Board of Visitors that he would stay in office until his successor is chosen.
