VSP: Separate crashes claim two lives Tuesday in Southwest Va

State Police are investigating two fatal crashes that happened Tuesday in Southwest Virginia.

One accident occurred in Russell County just before 3 p.m, when a Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Tabitha Lambert, 32, ran off a portion of Route 19, struck a guardrail, and overturned near Huffman Hill. Lambert was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The other crash occurred just before 6 p.m in Wythe County, as a tractor-trailer traveling north on I-77 on the ramp leading to I-81 ran off the left side of the road and down into a culvert. The unidentified male driver died at the scene. No other information was available on the second crash.
