Washington County, TN leaders discuss property tax freezer for older homeowners
Washington County, Tennessee leaders met to discuss freezing property taxes for older homeowners. The County Commission held a workshop Monday evening, to consider participating in a program that is run by the state but funded locally. To qualify, a homeowner has to be 65 years or older, own the primary residence, meet income requirements, and file an annual application. County leaders say only a handful of counties across the state participate in the program and now county commissioners will be tasked with considering implementing it. Participating in the program would have to be approved by the full commission.
