Washington County TN Schools facing $6M budget shortfall

The Washington County, Tennessee Board of Education met Tuesday to discuss how it will close a more than $6 million gap between revenue and expenses in funding on its Fiscal Year 2026 budget. Washington County School Superintendent Jerry Boyd said the BOE had to revise the budget after it was sent back from the Washington County Budget Committee. Boyd said the BOE decided to use $2 million in current funds to apply to the FY-26 budget, bringing the gap down to 4.1 million. Boyd said he intends to request around $3 million in budget help from the commission at its next meeting. Washington County’s next Budget Committee meeting is scheduled for June 11th. The county’s next full commission meeting is June 18th.
