Work to improve air quality at Washington County Courthouse keeps venue closed until September 11
Washington County, Virginia officials say they need more time to eradicate a potential source of mold at their historic courthouse and have closed the venue until September 11th.
A county report said the structure, one of the oldest courthouses still in use in the region, will be examined by an industrial clean-up unit to remove the microbial growth in affected areas and take all steps to make the building safe after air testing one week ago detected the bacteria.
The report also said the county is exploring alternative arrangements to conduct court-related business with the public. Those will be announced if a plan is reached.
