Johnson City planning commissioners approve new rezonings
Johnson City planning commissioners approved a proposal Tuesday evening to rezone property for an 11-home subdivision that would serve Hurricane Helene victims and be built by Appalachia Service Project. Grace Fellowship Church owns the 5-acre lot at 2121 Seminole Drive. A concept plan shows a cul-de-sac off of Seminole Drive, with green space and a walking trail. No timeline for the project has been provided. The planning commission also approved rezoning of a property at 2600 Peoples St. in north Johnson City from R-3, medium-density residential, to MS-1, Medical Services District, to allow for the construction of a hotel. Those plans currently envision a 121-room, four-story hotel. Both the ASP rezoning and hotel project rezoning will now have to go before the full Johnson City Commission.
