Feeding SWVA receives 40,000 pound food donation

Feeding Southwest Virginia received a 40,000-pound food donation Thursday from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in collaboration with “Just Serve” and America250. The delivery was part of a nationwide effort by the Church to send 250 truckloads of food donations to 250 food banks across the United States in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Officials with Feeding SWVA say the donation will provide enough food for 33,000 meals, which would feed 1,500 people for a week. Overall about 10 million meals were donated by the Church across the country.
