Unsolved: 24 years later, Cody Matney case still open
April 28th marks the 24th anniversary of the disappearance of a Bristol, Tennessee man whose cold case remains on the books with the Virginia State Police.
Cody Matney was last seen outside a West State Street nightspot called Confetti’s sitting in his truck and talking with an individual in another pickup. Five days later, Matney’s truck was returned to the club’s parking lot with his checkbook laying on the dashboard.
Sullivan County and Virginia investigators received a break last year when the TBI arrested Alabama resident Christopher Havrilla who is charged with Matney’s murder along with kidnapping and abuse of a corpse. Court records show Havrilla is scheduled to go on trial in August.
