Virginia Lawmakers approve final budget
Virginia lawmakers approved the final changes to the state’s two-year budget Monday, just one day before a deadline to avoid a government shutdown. The House of Delegates and Senate voted to adopt the14 amendments proposed by the governor after passing the budget last week. The governor’s requested changes include funding for cancer screenings for firefighters and new regulations governing water use at data centers. The final spending plan totals more than $200 billion over the next two fiscal years and the new laws will take effect on July 1.
