Portions of Greene County dealing with severe flooding after weekend storms

Two people and four dogs were rescued from flash flooding impacting Greene County. There was a water rescue on Sentelle Road due to water surrounding a home. Road crews are continuing work on the bridge in the 4000 block of St James Road. It remains closed until further notice. The Nolichucky River rose to nearly 6 and half feet before going back down to just over 4 feet Sunday afternoon. EMA officials said that streams and creeks have been the biggest issue with this flood event especially in the northeastern and southwestern portions of the county.
