Authorities looking for suspects after attempted traffic stop in Marion

Authorities are searching for two people after an attempted traffic stop in Marion. The Marion Police Department, Smyth County Sheriff’s Office, Chilhowie Police Department, and Virginia State Police are involved in the search. Police said the two people were in possession of a stolen vehicle from Tennessee when an officer attempted a traffic stop. The two individuals eluded police and later abandoned the vehicle just northeast of the Marion town limits. Authorities said to not approach either person and to contact law enforcement with any information.
