Duo jailed after trying to flee police in Mountain City

Mountain City and Johnson County police officers placed two men into custody after they tried to escape from a traffic stop.

A town report said deputies blocked in the vehicle occupied by Justin and Jerry Rhymer near the Pioneer Village Shopping Center and then wrestled the men down after they tried to flee on foot. Officers also found more than 3 grams of meth and drug paraphernalia inside the car while Justin Rhymer had a loaded .9 mm in his waistband. Both men face several charges, including evading arrest.
