Saylor Hayes parents wave rights for extradition to South Carolina

The parents of Saylor Hayes, the Bristol, Virginia-area non -verbal 5-year-old who was found dead this week in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, appeared in court in Carter County, Tennessee for an extradition hearing Thursday morning. John Herb Hayes III and Geordyn Nichole Hayes both waived their rights to an attorney hearing and another extradition hearing. A status hearing has now been scheduled for September 14 in Carter County if the pair is not extradited to South Carolina by then. They continue to be held without bond. The pair was charged in South Carolina with unlawfully placing a child at risk/willfully abandoning a child. Authorities say the parents of Saylor repeatedly tried to direct searchers away from the water while they were actively searching. They couple were arrested in the Hampton area by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday evening.
