Dolly’s first posthumous record release is a Carter Brothers classic with vocals from 2022

Two weeks after her death, the first posthumous record release from Dolly Parton comes with a touch of Southwest Virginia flavor.

According to a report in Rolling Stone, Dolly laid down the vocals for “Ready to Ride” at her studio during the COVID pandemic in 2022. The song was made famous in 1964 by the historic Stanley Brothers of Dickenson County Ralph and Carter, both members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Ready to Ride is just one of the selections on an all-star tribute album celebrating 80 years of music of the Carter Brothers that will be released next month. It also includes remakes by Willie Nelson, Dierks Bentley, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and the duo of Steve Martin and Ed Helms.
