Convicted killer Jacob Morley captured in Missouri

Convicted Carter County, Tennessee killer Jacob Morley is in police custody a week after escaping from a state penitentiary.

Morley breached a perimeter security fence on October 25th and drove off prison property in a stolen truck that he ditched in Illinois. The escapee was found with the aid of a Flock license plate camera, according to officials with the Missouri Highway Patrol, who assisted police in apprehending Morley in a Kansas City suburb.

A published report by News Channel 5 in Nashville said officials with the Northwest Correctional Complex waited almost seven hours before contacting surrounding local police agencies and the Department of Safety, including a department located just five miles from the prison.

Morley is serving a life sentence after he was convicted in Carter County Criminal Court in 2022 for the murder of co-worker Cody Birchfield.
