Former Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and wife reported dead in murder-suicide
The Fairfax County Police Department is reporting that former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax shot and killed himself and his wife, Cerina, in an apparent murder-suicide. Police Chief Kevin Davis confirmed the fatal shooting during a press conference Thursday morning and said that “this has been an ongoing domestic dispute” around a divorce. Davis said the couple’s two teenage children were in the home when Fairfax shot his wife “several times” before running to a different part of the home and turning the gun on himself. The shooting took place shortly after midnight, with the son making the call to 911. Both Fairfax and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene. Fairfax had served from 2018 to 2022 alongside Governor Ralph Northam.
