Remembrance Day at Virginia Tech to honor 32 shooting victims
Ceremonies were hosted by Virginia Tech on Thursday to remember the 32 students and faculty members killed on campus on April 16, 2007.
“They ranged in age from 18 to 76 and represented a variety of academic areas and faith and ethnic groups,” said portions of a statement listed on Tech’s We Remember webpage dedicated to the victims that provides a catalog of photos and other items connected to the tragedy.
The events began at midnight with a memorial candle being lit at the Blacksburg memorial site while members of the Corp of Cadets stood guard on the grounds for 32 minutes as a tribute. Retiring Tech President Tim Sands laid a wreath at the student center prior to the events.
