Virginia health experts to release data on Scott County’s cancer rate investigation
A public town hall meeting is set for next Thursday (January 8) in Scott County where a cancer cluster investigation has been conducted.
The Department of Health’s Virginia Cancer Registry will report the latest findings of a study triggered earlier this year by registered nurse Megan Smith whose data showed 14 pediatric patients from the county are currently receiving cancer treatments.
LENOWISCO Health District director Reisa Sloce said the event at Gate City Middle School will provide a forum of clear and transparent information for parents and residents.
Experts with the Office of Epidemiology, Office of Drinking Water and the cancer registry will attend. Virtual video options will also be made available online for interested residents.
